As IF started the weekend badly getting knocked out of the top 4 but recovered well to finish 5th beating Rampant X in style. That result gave IF first and third in the tour, a great result especially given the depth of the mixed tour this year.

Wonderful Copenhagen 2006 - Semi Finalists and Spirit Winners

Sunday, May 14th, 2006

Fire had a Wonderful weekend in Copenhagen making semi finals in a tournament loaded with all the top European club teams. After a disappointing first game against Brooklyn Ultimate from New York, a Fire team full of new young faces came back to win 4 of the next 5 games including wins against Ultimate Vibration (FR) and Ragnarok (DK) in the quarter (the loss was in sudden death against Freespeed (CH) who came 3rd).

Although Fire was disappointed not to put in a better performance against Clapham in the semi the weekend finished on a high with Fire winning Open Division Spirit of the Game and the Title and Spirit for Iceni in the Womens division. A good weekend for London Ultimate.

UKUA Tour 3 - Birmingham

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

At Tour 3 in Birmingham, Fire of London leapfrogged to the top of the tour standings with our maiden tour victory. Fire beat Fusion in a close quarter final and then went on to put in ruthless performances to beat Leeds in the semi and new european champions Clapham 17-14 in the final.

UKUA Tour 2 - Mansfield

Thursday, May 12th, 2005

Fire 1 achieved it’s best result ever at Tour 2. Having retained the 3rd seed during saturday’s pool play with a victory over Leeds, Fire then advanced past Clapham 2 in the quarter and Chevron in the semi to make their 1st tour final. Despite an excellent middle portion of the game, a bad start and finish allowed Clapham their 1st tour of the season 16-10.Fire 2 missed another opportunity to go into the top 8 after the initial crossover, taking Clapham 2 to sudden death. As in Tour 1 Fire 2 couldn’t win it’s saturday pool, and was left to prove it was best of the next 8 again with 9th.

UKUA Tour 1 - Bristol

Sunday, April 3rd, 2005

A solid start to the season in Bristol saw Fire 1 recover from an early loss to finish 3rd. The 1sts will be disappointed though to have lost their semi to Leeds from a 10-7 lead.
Fire 2 missed an opportunity to go into the top 8 after the 1st day but won all their remaining games for 9th.

2004 BritOpen: Another 3rd place trophy

Sunday, July 4th, 2004

We fired on all 3 days, only losing 1 match which was the semi-final to GB Masters featuring our own Norm. The tournament was played in insanely windy conditions for 2 of 3 days (recollections of a Catch 22 v Mister Twister match on the beach). After the friday crew held the fort, we were joined by Steve, Jai, Mark ‘Big Mac’ Macdonald and Gaz who laughed in the face of the wind and threw and caught all kinds of crazy throws in conditions where most teams were happy for their hucks not to lose any ground. On the Sunday we gave GB Masters a stiff test but after failing to convert our opportunites late in the game they edged away. In the 3rd/4th we demolished Fever who weren’t particularly up for it. Cota Rica beat the Masters in an entertaining final.

Crazy Al defected to another team which would let him wear a skirt, along with Tim. Needless to say they finished lower than us.

2004 Tour: A strong finish to the season sees us ranked 5th and 8th in our first year

Sunday, June 27th, 2004

At T4 in Edinburgh our 1st team finally made a Tour semi-final, losing it to Leeds, but going on to win the 3rd place play-off. Our best finish of the year. The 2nd’s finished a strong 7th which means we finish the season with the highest ranked 2nd team.
Congratulations to Clapham for winning the Tour again, Leeds for challenging so closely for the title, Chevron for winning a Tour and Fusion for consistently playing at the top level.
